Are you fluent in Shakespeare and spreadsheets? Passionate about punctuation and progress? We’re looking for an English Lecturer who can do more than just teach grammar—they can inspire confidence, unlock potential, and help learners find their voice.

At New College Swindon, our Evolve Programme supports High Needs learners to thrive academically and personally. As our new Lecturer in English, you’ll be at the heart of that mission—teaching GCSE and Functional Skills English in a way that’s accessible, engaging, and tailored to each student’s journey.

You will:

  • Deliver English lessons that are as inclusive as they are inspiring.
  • Support learners with EHCPs to meet meaningful, personalised targets.
  • Create resources and activities that bring English to life—whether it’s through poetry, persuasive writing, or practical communication.
  • Track progress, giving feedback, and celebrating every milestone.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to enhance the learning experience.
  • Keep your teaching fresh, relevant, and responsive to curriculum changes.

You will need:

  • A degree in English or a related subject.
  • A Level 5 teaching qualification (or a willingness to gain one).
  • Experience teaching English at Level 2 or above, ideally with knowledge of NEA and assessment frameworks.
  • A calm, creative approach to supporting learners with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills—and a love for the written word.

You’ll be part of a college that values inclusion, innovation, and impact. We’re not just teaching English—we’re helping students build confidence, independence, and a brighter future. You’ll have the freedom to teach creatively, the support to grow professionally, and the satisfaction of making a real difference.

Benefits: 11 weeks holiday including bank holidays, 28.68% College pension contribution to TPS, health care cash plan, free car parking, discounted Hair & Beauty, on-site gym, staff development & training, Pluxee Retail Discount Scheme, and more!
