New College Swindon is looking for a Lockdown Technician to play a vital role in securing our campuses and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role is 29 hours per week (Monday & Friday 2.15-7pm, Tuesday-Thursday 3.30-10pm).

You will:

Secure college buildings at the end of the day, including setting alarms and checking all areas are clear.

Act as the out-of-hours contact for fire or intruder alarms on a rota basis.

Conduct routine checks on fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and other safety systems.

Support room setups for events, meetings, and teaching spaces.

Report maintenance issues via our service desk (JIRA).

Act as a fire marshal and ensuring fire exits and corridors are clear.

Liaise with staff during lockdown procedures and supporting emergency protocols.

You will need:

Minimum Level 2 qualifications in Maths, English & ICT (or equivalent).

A flexible, can-do attitude with the ability to work independently.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Willingness to work across both campuses and attend site within 30 minutes if called out.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable:

Manual handling and first aid qualifications.

Experience in a similar facilities or security role.

Familiarity with working in a customer-focused environment.
