We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Mental Health and Wellbeing Response Officer to provide targeted support for students, focusing on early intervention and critical response.
This is a fast-paced role requiring the use of immediate tailored pastoral and therapeutic support to students accessing the support hub on a drop-in basis.
A key part of the role is assessing risk, developing support and safety plans for students experiencing mental health distress, including crisis situations.
The role will require you to work collaboratively with safeguarding teams, academic staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure consistent and appropriate care. You will manage and monitor student progress to improve attendance, engagement, and retention.
You will be required to support the operation of the Wellbeing Room within the Support Hub, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, trauma-informed environment.
Ideally you will have experience supporting young people with mental health needs, knowledge of crisis intervention, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to promoting student wellbeing and success.
New College Swindon is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion. References will be sought on shortlisted candidates before interview and by agreement.
